Hi! I'm Katie Kelton, a rising senior at Texas Christian University studying English Literature and Writing. I'm passionate about writing and storytelling, and I hope to one day work as a feature writer for a magazine or other print and digital formats. My experience includes interning with D Magazine where I published over 30 features and briefs. Since August 2018, I've been living and studying in Florence, Italy and documenting my experience in the blog Fly Away Kate. This platform allows me to share my love for all things travel, photography, and literature.

Distinguished University Writings
University courses and extracurriculars have given me phenomenal opportunities to expand my writing skills and technique. Over the past two years I've taken courses including Writing for Publication, Travel Writing, Screenwriting, and Creative Writing. I've also collaborated with Honors professors on a number of projects. In the Spring of 2018, I was asked to present my research on French women's literature in TCU's Women and Gender Studies Symposium. I've included this research below along with a couple of samples from my Writing for Publication class.
PHotography
After moving to Italy, I realized I needed to expand my photography skills in order to properly document my experience abroad. I took a number of classes, and I'm continuing to work daily on what has become one of my favorite hobbies. One of the greatest rewards of photography is having the ability to share my travels on my blog Fly Away Kate. All of the pictures on the site are my own.
